Ah Ma has done her part....We must ask ourselves, what have we done? Wake up friends, do something....our next generation's future is in our hands....

她的名字叫 Annie， 今年65岁。 Her name is Annie and age 65.
她是一名退休英语老师，为国家（马来西亚）教育部服务了35年。
She is a retired English teacher and had served in the Malaysian education dept for 35 years.
7月9 日早晨，她 独自一人搭 公车到吉隆坡，被军 警截阻4次。 On the 9th July morning, she took the public transport to KL alone and was stopped by the police 4 times.

警员责问她 身上穿的黄 色衣衫，她祥和轻轻 的反问 “为什么我不 能穿黄色？“ The police asked her why she wore yellow ‘T’ shirt and she answered with a question calmly, “Why can’t I wear yellow.” 警 员敬佩知难而退。 The police left her alone respectfully.

她不知道集会原定什么时候开始， 她甚至不太确定自身处在城市的哪个地理位置， She didn’t know the starting time of the rally. She was even not sure of her location in which corner of the city. 在 她的内心里，缓缓燃烧着赋行一 个使命。。。支持集会！ In her heart, there was a burning desire to carry out a mission …to support the rally!

她是走在游行队最前线！无惧警方 的粗暴对垒！ She was at the fore front of the rally! Without fearing the police’s harsh treatment (brute force)!

在警方发动催淚彈 攻擊時，有人 大聲的喊她快點走！！！ There is concerned people who called out at Annie to leave when the police started firing tear gas canisters at them ! ! ! 但是，这位年纪已高的老阿麽，突 然向这位路人抛出了一句话： However, this senior Ah Ma answered to this concerned comrade: “我只求一個和平的請願， 但為什麼沒有人願意傾聽，我們 不能走，我們走了，​未來的路 要怎麼走？” “I am only appealing a request peacefully, why there is no listener, we can not go away, if we go away, how can we tread the route in the future?” 听 了婆婆说的话，旁边的队友的眼泪忍禁不住流了... On hearing Po Po ’s words, the comrades around her were filled with tears in their eyes…



很 不幸的，她中了4次 催泪弹 和1回 化学水炮 （辣椒水）袭击，从头到脚都被水炮​射湿。 Unfortunately, she was hit by tear gas 4 times and one time with chemical water. She was wet from head to toes by the chemical water.

雖然啊嫲未必看到面子書粉絲專頁（Malaysian Lady Of Liberty），但是她的堅 持感動了許多人, Though Ah Ma may not have read her fans’ facebook messages – Malaysian Lady of Liberty, but her undeterred single-mindedness persistence had touched many. 也 喚醒不少年輕人對於，“這個國家是 這樣的啦”，“怎麽做都​沒有用的啦”等等的消極 的想法。 Her proclamation is a wakeup call to many young adults who had thought that, “This country is such lah”; “It is useless to do anything” and all the pessimistic perception.

Diarrhoea in Goats

Client's Question: My goats have diarrhoea problems quite often and I do not know how to resolve these problems? Can you please help me?

Vet's Answer:
I refer to my recent field visit to your goat farm. I noted your anxiety or complaint of diarrhoea in goats after consuming a new feed. The relatively large number of deaths and miscarriages recorded in your farm is a concern and should warrant immediate remedial actions.

Unfortunately, no autopsy has ever been done to verify or establish the cause of deaths, though you have observed diarrhoea being the common clinical symptom. I have through my field investigation on 6 April 2008, noted a number of clues leading to the few presumptive diagnoses namely, D-Lactic acidosis, enterotoxemias and parasitic problems.

Lactic acidosis or commonly called grain overload is due to feeding too much high energy feedstuff (various grains and sugars) including concentrates, maize (corn), barley and mollasses, which could trigger excessive production of acids in the rumen that could cause rumen impaction and atony. The high concentration of nutrients/acids causes body fluid to be drawn into the rumen, consequently could cause severe dehydration. The onset of acidosis could happen as early as 8 to 12 hours after feeding and often lead to sudden death in the youngs. Hence, it would be crucial that goats should receive sufficient quantity of quality roughage (fodder, leaves and other vegetative stuff) in addition to the concentrates.

While on enterotoxemia, it is a disease associated with Clostridium perfringens, bacteria common in soils, which thrive on diets high in starch and sugars associated with grain overload. In pregnant goats the condition is also known as pregnancy toxaemia and often this could cause miscarriages.

I would also suggest that you look into the routine endo-parasite control programme. Worms and Coccidiosis also display diarrhoea and sometimes blood in faeces, which I have noted in the pens. A simple monitoring on the level of infestations could be done using brine floatation technique and with the aid of a microscope. These are sound investments for sustaining the herd health.

For better assurance of your feed quality, I would suggest that you seek help from your feed supplier and arrange for the necessary laboratory tests including test on mycotoxins, to allay whatever doubts you might have on the feed.

It is advisable that a balanced diet feeding programme be duly developed in order to ensure that goats are fed with adequate fibres in addition to reasonable content of proteins and high energy nutrients. Adequate water should also be provided to goats living in a feed-lot system since the water would help to bring down the excessive body heat generated during the happening of grain overload. A minimum amount of granulated salt may be added into the drinking water since the salt will assist in keeping water in the animal's body for much longer time and hence help to prevent dehydration.

Diarrhoea problems in goats will only be resolved if you are able to maintain a balance of diet and ensure a choice of feeds or concentrates which are totally free of contamination.

Herbivores Cannibalism?

Who say herbivores never eat animal flesh? This picture shows a maternal jamnapari mother goat eating its own placenta dropping from its own inner body. Zoologists explain that mother goat will have the behavior of eating its own placenta due to the suspected reason that it tries to clean up the environment for purpose of protecting the baby goats from possible danger. If the placenta is not eliminated, it may be easily found by some ferocious animals scavenging in the jungle. Once the placenta has been detected, the ferocious animals will never go far away from the same location until a baby goat has been hunted. Meanwhile, eating the placenta will also prevent air pollution by the bad smell from rotten meat. Placenta itself is full of nutrition. It is a convenient food supplement which helps the mother goat to recover much faster from maternity. Placenta also contains high protein which helps the lactating mother goat to produce more milk for the baby goats.
